This place was even better with the ominous fog rolling out of it’s mouth.
This tunnel was built in the 1850s by a few thousand Irish immigrant workers. They worked in two teams toward each other, meeting in the middle a mere 6 inches off from perfection. Another tunnel was built a short distance away in the 1940s to replace this with more “modern technology” and they were 4 feet off when meeting in the center.
The best part is that those Irishmen that build the initial tunnel are not recorded anywhere else, as far as the information I have goes. They were lost in history and this tunnel is their monument.
